Aloe vera plant can absorb carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and formaldehyde. It also has medicinal properties and can be used to treat burns and wounds.

• Light: Place your aloe plant in a warm, sunny spot. It thrives with bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sun, which can cause leaves to turn yellow.
• Container: Use a pot with a drainage hole. Terra-cotta or porous containers work well. Aloe vera prefers well-draining soil, such as cactus mix.
• Watering: Water sparingly. In spring and summer, water 2-3 times a month. In fall and winter, reduce to once a month. Let the soil dry out between waterings.
• Propagation: To propagate, cut off new growth at the base of the plant.

Toxicity

Vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, and skin irritation. These are the most common symptoms of aloe vera poisoning, caused by the saponins and anthraquinones in the plant.

Vision problems and blindness. Aloe vera can affect the eyes and cause inflammation, irritation, and damage to the retina and optic nerve.

Kidney damage and failure. Aloe vera can cause electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, and kidney inflammation, especially if taken with other medications that affect the kidneys.

Cancer risk. Aloe vera latex, the yellow sap under the skin of the leaf, contains chemicals that may have the potential to cause cancer in humans.
