How to plant Hydrangea
Hydrangea, commonly named the hortensia, is a genus of over 75 species of flowering plants native to Asia and the Americas.
The seeds should germinate in about 14 days. You need to keep the soil moist, but not wet. Once the plantlets get large enough to be transplanted to their own pots, you should continue caring for them as you would normally care for hydrangea cuttings.
It takes about 14 months for hydrangeas to grow from seed into an established enough plant.
Hydrangeas are considered toxic to humans. They contain a compound called hydrangin, which is a cyanogenic glycoside. When ingested, this compound can break down into hydrogen cyanide, a toxic substance that interferes with the body's ability to use oxygen.
Ingesting parts of the hydrangea plant, such as leaves, flowers, or buds, can cause symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, and sweating¹. In more severe cases, it can lead to difficulty breathing, seizures, and even death.
