Sinewy and strong, Crepe myrtles have gray, tan, or cinnamon-hued branches that bear glorious clouds of colorful, long-lasting blooms starting in June. In the fall, they dependably produce radiant foliage in reds, oranges, and yellows.

• Crepe Myrtle trees thrive in full sun and well-drained soil. Choose a location that gets plenty of sunlight and has good air circulation to help prevent powdery mildew and other diseases.
• Crepe myrtles need about 1 inch of water per week and supplemental water is especially important during periods of intense drought. Adding a layer of natural mulch around the base of your plants will insulate roots and reduce watering needs.
• Only prune crepe myrtles after they finish flowering by clipping away overcrowded, diseased, or dead branches towards the center of the plant.
